Live experiment · demo feed

A living nervous system, fed by a market.

299 neurons from the real C. elegans connectome, alive on a plate fed by the market. Every holder is a bacterial colony, sized by their bag. Buys grow it, sells shrink it and fire the pain neurons. When the worm eats your colony, you get an airdrop in SOL.

Neural recording

Every spike from all 299 neurons, sorted by class and scrolling in real time. The top band is the stimulus: chemosensory when it smells food, nose touch when it hits the edge or someone sells.

Feeding

Every holder owns one colony on the plate, read from the chain through Helius. It grows with every buy and shrinks with every sell. When the worm eats a colony, its owner is paid in SOL on the spot. It can bite once every 20 seconds, and an eaten colony takes ten minutes to grow back.

    Evolution

The specimen gets a larger brain as the market cap grows. The worm and the fly have fully mapped connectomes; the fish and the mouse are the maps neuroscience is still drawing.

      Method

      The brain

The connectome is decoded from nematoduino's neural ROM: 299 neurons, 3,683 synapses and 98 muscle cells, run as integrate-and-fire with integer state. Smelling food makes it crawl forward. A touch on the nose makes it reverse.

      The plate

It finds food the way a real nematode does. It keeps going while the smell gets stronger, and reverses into an omega turn when the smell fades. Its head sweeps side to side, which leaves the S-shaped track in the lawn.

      The market

Buys grow the buyer's colony and top up satiety. Sells fire the nose-touch neurons. With no buys the worm goes quiescent, like a starved worm. Creator fees are claimed every minute and fund the SOL paid on every bite.

      Verification

Nothing here is random. One keeper runs the official worm and pays the bites; your browser replays the same inputs a few seconds behind and gets the same worm, down to the last neuron. Rebuild it yourself and compare fingerprints.
